Nyctereutes procyonoides Metagenome

Raccoon dogs also named Nyctereutes procyonoides, are member of the Canidae family. In recent years, other viruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS), avain H5N1 influenza virus, canine distemper virus (CDV), canine parvovirus type 2, porcine circovirus type 2, and rotavirus were identified from raccoon dogs in different regions or countries, but at present the viruses infected with raccoon dogs were rarely studied systematically.In this study, we found out viral composition of feces sample from domestic raccoon dogs in Jilin province of china using viral metagenomics. We report previously uncharacterized raccoon dog viruses, including CRESS-like virus, parvovirus, dicipivirus, astrovirus, and unclassified hepeviridae virus. These results provide theoretical support for the investigation of raccoon dog disease in the future.
