It has been previously shown that there is involvement of IL-17 signaling in the development of severe radiation dermatitis from RNA-sequenicng of human RD skin samples. In this project, we tested the hypothesis using a mouse model of RD previously developed by Liao et al. (PMID: 28406748) The skin on the left flank of C57BL/6J wild-type mice was exposed to a single X-ray dose of 25 Gy to induce radiation dermatitis. One group received IL-17 neutralizing antibody once prior to irradiation and once a week afterward up to three weeks to test its preventative effect.
