1.1 FILMUSP - Quantitative data

<p>This dataset was produced as part of the FILMUSP PRIN 2022 project, <em>Music Publishing and Film: Toward a Production History of the Soundtrack in Italy (1958–1976)</em>. It consists of five tabular files and is also accessible through the project OPAC at <a href="https://filmusp.unimi.it/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">filmusp.unimi.it</a>.</p>

<p>The dataset documents the relationships between films released in Italy between 1958 and 1976, film-music commercial recordings, and Italian music publishers. It includes structured information on 5,062 films, 4,469 musical works, 2,735 record masters, 3,511 record releases, 21,834 record tracks, 4,440 persons, and 575 corporate groups. Entities across these levels are interconnected through unique identifiers that enable the reconstruction of production and distribution networks linking films, compositions, and records.</p>

<p>The data were compiled through a combination of automated data processing and manual curation of open data sources, primarily Discogs. A detailed description of the data collection workflow, validation procedures, and enrichment strategies will be presented in a forthcoming publication.</p>
