资源简介:
This dataset was collected as part of a pilot study to tag Pacific cod in the Aleutians Islands, in particular to develop methods of tagging and different platforms from which to release satellite tags. The methods developed for this project are currently being used for satellite tagging Pacific cod in the Northern Bering Sea, Southeastern Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska. All satellite tag folders contain several files (example: 177953). These data were collected from the first study to deploy Pop-up Satellite Archival Tags (PSATs) on Pacific cod in the North Pacific Ocean. Adult Pacific cod were tagged in February 2019 in the Aleutian Islands and programmed to "pop-up" off the fish after 90, 180, 270 or 360 days in order to characterize seasonal movement (e.g., movement from winter spawning to summer foraging locations). All PSATs in this study were manufactured by Wildlife Computers and consisted of miniPATs (providing pop-up location and archived depth, temperature, light, and acceleration data), mrPATs (providing pop-up location and daily min/max depth and temperature only), and sPATS (providing pop-up location and time series depth/temperature for the last 5 days before pop-up only). Three miniPATs were deployed in release locations as stationary tags to provide a record of conditions in the release area and assist with analysis of tag data. The files for individual fish were obtained directly from the Wildlife Computers data portal and no additional processing was performed on the files in this repository. A document that describes the different files and the contents of the fields within them is provided at the root folder (WildlifeComputersPSAT_file_descriptions.pdf). The NPRB_1816_Data is a file containing all the information on each satellite tagged Pacific cod that was released in the Aleutian Islands in 2019, such as vessel, time of release, time on deck before release, etc. Each row is a tag and its accompanying data for both release and information on "recovery" such as haul, vessel, latitude, longitude, etc. The file is a .csv file. For all field descriptions in this data file, see "NPRB_1816_Data_FieldDesc.csv".
