Due to the insufficient concentration of CO2 in the environment to meet the demand of Rubisco, a key enzyme for photosynthetic carbon fixation, Ulva prolifera uses a CO2 concentration mechanism to increase the concentration of CO2 within the cell to maintain normal photosynthesis. However, the function and expression of the genes related to this CO2 concentration mechanism are still unclear. In this study, we conducted transcriptome analysis of Ulva prolifera under inorganic carbon limitation to explore the physiological dynamics of this species under insufficient inorganic carbon supply. We also investigated the gene expression, temporal expression trends, and gene functions related to the CO2 concentration mechanism of Ulva prolifera.
