Processed multichannel seismic data off the New Jersey coast, acquired during the R/V Oceanus survey OC270 (1995)

This R/V Oceanus cruise conducted a high-resolution seismic survey of Neogene-Recent sequence stratigraphy off the New Jersey coast. This study was in support of STRATAFORM and the Ocean Drilling Program's Mid-Atlantic Transit project. The objectives were to collect high-resolution reflection images of the upper 100+ m of strata geometry from the outer shelf to the slope, tied to Leg 150 sites, and to survey for the presence of shallow gas in grids centered on proposed ODP drill sites, following guidelines set by the Shallow Water Drilling Hazards Working Group. Funded by the Office of Naval Research (U.S.).

本R/V海洋学家号（R/V Oceanus）航次针对新泽西海岸外海域的新近纪-现代（Neogene-Recent）层序地层开展了高分辨率地震勘探。本研究旨在支持地层形成计划（STRATAFORM）与大洋钻探计划（Ocean Drilling Program）的大西洋中部过渡带项目。本次航次的目标为：采集从外陆架至陆坡的上部100余米地层几何形态的高分辨率反射成像数据，并与大洋钻探第150航次的钻探站位进行匹配关联；同时按照浅水钻探灾害工作组（Shallow Water Drilling Hazards Working Group）制定的指南，以计划中的ODP钻探站位为中心开展网格状勘探，以探测浅层气的赋存情况。本项目由美国海军研究办公室（Office of Naval Research, U.S.）资助。
