The Christie NHSFT / University of Manchester have conducted a prospective study to collect stool and saliva samples from patients with advanced / metastatic biliary tract cancers having first-line chemotherapy. We plan to perform shotgun metagenomic sequencing of extracted faecal DNA, to determine species, strain and functional compositions of gut microbiomes before- and on-treatment.
