Acoustic Detections of Marine Mammals During a 3D Survey along the west coast of Southern Africa: Insights from Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM).

This dataset consists of marine mammal acoustic recordings collected through passive monitoring systems, designed to detect and identify marine mammals by analyzing their vocalizations during a 3D survey conducted by Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) on behalf of Seacher Seismic along the west coast of Southern Africa. The analysis of these recordings provides valuable insights into the presence, behavior, and distribution of marine mammal species across different oceanic regions, with 13 acoustic detections recorded. This dataset plays a key role in advancing conservation efforts and improving our understanding of marine ecosystems. The data sharing was facilitated through the South African Marine Research and Exploration Forum (SAMREF) an Operation Phakisa Oceans Economy Lab project.
