The series consists of records describing the working documents and reports from the McDonell Commission of Inquiry into Electricity Generation and Planning in NSW.The records include correspondence between the Commission and industry experts, government agency advisors and interested parties. Other documents consist of surveys as well as reports about electricity operations, strategic planning and the work of generation development planning working parties. There are also report summaries, Ministerial memoranda and newspaper clippings which were compiled after the tabling of the Commission's final report on 30 June 1986. The copies of the final reports include ‘Planning, Economy, Flexibility: Development Options Through the Mid 1990s’, ‘Planning, Process and the Public’ and 'Planning, Resources, Priorities’. The records have been gathered in folders and sequentially numbered, with titles by function and report name. Correspondence letters are organised by sequential number and preceded by an alphabetical index.
