Harpia harpyja (Harpy eagle) genome, bHarHar1

The harpy eagle (Harpia harpyja) is a neotropical species of eagle. It is one of the largest and most powerful eagles in the world. This sample of a female was obtained from the Sao Jose do Laguinho region in Brazil, procured by Tomas Hrbek and Guilherme Oliveira, to generate a high-quality reference for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genomes Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Olivier Fedrigo and Erich D. Jarvis.
