资源简介:
Despite the growing demand of mental health services in India, clinical psychologists face a precarious professional landscape characterized by a severe workforce deficit, estimated at 0.07 to 0.13 professionals per 1,00,000 people. This study explores the specific drivers of burnout and poor work-life balance among Indian clinical psychologists, moving beyond general healthcare worker research, the study takes into consideration the systemic stressors such as Rehabilitation Council of India’s ambiguous licensing regulations, emotional toll of high risk caseloads, and sociocultural gaps from a qualitative standpoint, via thematic analysis obtained from psychologists in practice and academia to understand professional challenges in a collectivistic society. The themes from transcripts were analysed with psychosocial theories and frameworks. This study aims to address methodological gaps in psychological anthropology research, specifically the absence of empirical data. Allowing more informed prevention and intervention strategies in the future of clinical psychology, ensuring the research has direct and practical implications in field. By highlighting interplay between educational gaps, professional ambiguity, and compassion fatigue, study seeks to address ambiguity that leads to attrition, bridging translational research and clinical practice by visualizing the need for structural reform and supervisory support to sustain the workforce responsible for India’s mental health.
