Household Disaster Recovery Dataset: 2024 Texas Derecho and Hurricane Beryl (Harris County, Texas)

This dataset aggregates and links preexisting social well-being and disaster recovery data sources covering Harris County, Texas households affected by the 2024 Texas Derecho (May 2024) and Hurricane Beryl (July 2024). Source data include household survey responses collected by Connective via ConnectiveSurvey.org, American Red Cross disaster response records, United Way 211 call and referral records, Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) survey data collected by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, and windshield and property assessments collected by the Harris County Department of Engineering. These sources were fuzzy-matched on residential address to identify unique households and their disaster-related service receipt outcomes across programs and agencies. The publicly released dataset consists of de-identified, aggregated summaries of unique household counts, disaster event coverage, and service receipt rates by geography (e.g., ZIP code or census tract) and disaster event. Row-level data containing personally identifiable information, including residential addresses, is not included in the public release. This dataset was produced as part of the Transforming Disaster Data and Communications (TDDC) project, led by United Way of Greater Houston with Connective as subgrantee, funded by the National Academy of Sciences Gulf Research Program.
