The aim of the study was to understand the effect of different trophic modes on the energetic metabolism of Euglena gracilis, and in particular on the functioning of its respiratory and photosynthetic chains. For this, acetate (60 mM) was added as a carbon source, under different light intensities (in the dark, at low intensity (50 µE m-2 s-1) or at medium intensity (200 µE m-2 s-1)), while in a fourth sample acetate was not supplied and light was set to low intensity (50 µE m-2 s-1).
