Study of Church and People in Richmond, 1960

This survey of adherents of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches in Richmond, Victoria was undertaken in 1960 under the direction of the Reverend Alan F. Reid of the Presbyterian Church and the Reverend Robert R. U'Ren of the Methodist Church. Its aim was to examine people's perceptions of the church and its role, and to explore what more the church could do in the immediate community. The survey includes questions on church and Sunday School attendance, the role of the church in commenting on social and political questions, possible church unions and the duties of ministers. Basic demographic information for those surveyed (sex, age range, marital status, occupation and length of residency) is also included. The data from scanned versions of these surveys were captured using LimeSurvey, and from there exported to SPSS.
