Biodegradation assays with five dibenzopyrene isomers including dibenzo[a,e]pyrene, dibenzo[a,h]pyrene, dibenzo[a,i]pyrene, dibenzo[a,l]pyrene, and dibenzo[e,l]pyrene were conducted in the presence of a consortium of microbes isolated from oil-contaminated sediment. Sediment cores were collected from the Chandeleur Islands in the Gulf of Mexico on May 7, 2018, in subtidal and marsh regions of the western side of the islands where oil from the Deepwater Horizon (DWH) oil spill remains buried. Data includes high throughput sequencing data demonstrating the changes to the individual microbial isolates as a result of the dibenzopyrene contamination.
