Temperature time series from a Mediterranean coastal lagoon (s'Estany des Peix, Balearic Islands, Spain): raw data and daily summary metrics from inner and outer stations

This dataset provides high-frequency temperature records from the coastal lagoon of s’Estany des Peix (Formentera, Balearic Islands, Spain), obtained using submerged loggers deployed at two locations: the inner lagoon and the outer mouth connecting the lagoon with the Mediterranean Sea. Temperature measurements were recorded at 15-minute intervals over approximately one year, generating a high-resolution time series of thermal variability in a shallow, semi-enclosed Mediterranean system. The dataset includes both the original raw temperature records, and derived daily summary metrics (minimum, maximum, and mean temperature) for each location. These data provide a detailed characterization of short-term thermal fluctuations and environmental variability experienced by benthic communities. The dataset was generated to support the interpretation of physiological responses of native macroalgae in relation to the presence of the invasive species Batophora occidentalis. The dataset is intended to facilitate reuse in ecological, climatological, and coastal lagoon studies, particularly those addressing environmental variability, biological invasions, and stress ecology in Mediterranean systems.
