Data measuring the abundance of insect life was collected both in the Saywell woodlot and Stong pond grassland area on September 28, 2015 at aproximatley 3:00pm. It was cloudy with a temperature of 20ᵒC. Insects were randomly sampled by placing 9 bowls filled with soapy water along a transect randomly placed in the Saywell woodlot area as well as the Stong pond grassland area. The bowls were colored white, yellow and blue and were placed in an alternating pattern every 3 meters of the transect. Once the pan traps were placed in both areas, a waiting period of 1 hour was used before collecting data on the abundance found within each bowl. The number of insects and RTU (Recognizable taxonomic units) were counted and visually determined by the experimenter.
