Synthetic dataset of 12,000 faults/ 4,000 tsunami scenarios targeting the Nippon trench

Summary: This dataset includes results from 12,000 earthquake/tsunami scenario simulations, with 100 cases for each moment magnitude (Mw) 8.8, 8.9, 9.0, and 9.1. The scenarios span three different fault rupture generation schemes: homo, trenchlock, and trenchcreep. For details on the distinctions between these schemes, refer to Small & Melgar (2023) [DOI: 10.1029/2022JB025716]. Target region: Japan Trench Tsunami simulation solver: GeoClaw Fault rupture generation: fakequake software A total of 124 observation gauges were used, positioned based on actual ocean observation networks: 21 NOWPHAS gauges (NOWPHAS info) 103 S-net gauges (S-net info (Japanese)) In addition, 9 synthetic gauges were placed to supplement the observation coverage.
