Endophytic microbiomes of Arabidopsis thaliana with mutant pattern recognition receptors in the field

Plant microbiome structure affects plant health and productivity. A limited subset of environmental microbes successfully establish within plant tissues, but the forces underlying this selection remain poorly characterized. We tested the effect of MAMP-detecting PRRs on endophytic bacterial and fungal microbiome structure in the field. We characterized the endophytic microbiomes of several tissue types of four PRR knockout lines of Arabidopsis thaliana alongside congenic wild-type plants over several developmental stages.
