资源简介:
This report provides a summary of work undertaken on EPC 1607 for the period 28 September 2019 to 27 September 2020. EPC 1607 is located to the south-east of the Hail Creek Syncline toward the eastern limit of the Bowen Basin and has potential for the discovery of shallow anthracitic Moranbah Coal Measures possibly occurring as discreet, segmented fault blocks. The surface geology is dominated by Tertiary basalts and consequently exploration has focussed on systematically drill testing the western tenement margin for the presence of any underlying fault blocks that could host economically viable coal seams. To date a total of 5 chip holes have been completed within EPC 1607 for a total of 1861m. Hole depths have ranged from 267m to 529m for an average of 372m. An east-west line of 3 drill holes, completed in 2014 in the central western portion of the tenement intercepted thick basalt sequences up to 203m thick overlying inter-bedded siltstones and fine to coarse gained sandstones. The lack of coal seams in these holes indicates they are below the target formations and are likely to belong to the upper Back Creek Group. In addition, 2 chip holes were completed in 2019 in the southwest of the tenement for a total of 997.4m. No coal seams were intercepted in these holes which ended in siltstone at 520m and sandstone at 470m respectively and they are also therefore interpreted as belonging to the Back Creek Group. Potential for the Moranbah Coal Measures to exist in the far north-western portion of EPC 1607 remains and future programs will be aimed at drill testing this area.
