Relationship between fines content (FC) and soil behavior type index (Ic)

The purpose of this study is to gather pairs of fines content (FC) and soil behavior type index (Ic) values from collocated boring logs and cone penetration tests. Samples from the boring logs were tested in the laboratory to measure the fines content, and in some cases plasticity characteristics including the plasticity index (PI). Values of Ic were computed from the cone penetration test collocated with the boring log. Collocation was assigned to boring logs and cone penetration tests within 10m of each other. Data come from California, Turkey, Mexico, Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan, and China.
