The purpose of this pilot study was to investigate plaque microbial transcriptomic profiles and their related metabolic function between children with ECC from two minority groups (African American and Hispanic). In this study, we isolated total RNA directly from paired clinical plaque samples (caries-active sites and non-caries sites within the same patient) and performed RNASeq to obtain global transcriptomic profiles between African American and Hispanic children with ECC.
