Slum households in India 2001-2011

In 2001, the number of slum households across the country was over 10 million. Over the next ten years, this number increased to just under 14 million households. The government defines as residential areas with poorly built households. These are most often unhygienic and unfit for human habitation because of dilapidation, overcrowding, lack of sanitation, water and infrastructure.

于2001年，我国城乡结合部家庭的数量已超过一千万户。在此后的十年间，该数字增至接近一千四百万户。政府将此类居住区域定义为建筑质量低劣的住宅区。这些区域通常因房屋破旧、人口密集、卫生条件恶劣、缺乏供水及基础设施而无法满足人类居住的需求。
