We propose timing observations of the millisecond pulsar J1933-6211, which is likely to be the least heavy neutron star known. Measurement of its mass will have significant impact on stellar evolution scenarios, accretion efficiencies and neutron star formation scenarios. In addition to this, the pulsar may well be a good candidate for inclusion in pulsar timing array efforts. \r\n\r\nThis proposal is an initial, limited time request to attempt to a) place a strong limit on the pulsar mass, b) attempt to phase-connect the archival data, c) enable detailed analysis of which observations will be needed for precise measurement of the pulsar mass and d) determined if the pulsar can be timed precisely enough to be included in timing array efforts.
本研究提出对毫秒脉冲星(millisecond pulsar)J1933-6211开展计时观测,该天体极有可能是目前已知质量最小的中子星。对其质量开展测量,将对恒星演化理论、吸积效率以及中子星形成理论模型产生显著影响。除此之外,该脉冲星也极有可能成为纳入脉冲星计时阵列(pulsar timing array)研究计划的优质候选天体。
