This essay, born from an educational experience, uses popular and historiographical sources about the rise of fascism in Salento in the first centenary of the "March on Rome". Some of them were collected by students on the field, other ones by scholars in the archives. It demonstrates the substantial correspondence, in ways and facts, with what was happening in the rest of Italy during a period of great social suffering, political turbulence, and protagonism.
