Ranking of online grocery retailers Russia 2021, by number of orders

The largest online grocery orders volume was reported by express delivery service Samokat, with 5,360 orders in July 2021. Yandex.Lavka ranked second, with 3,138 orders if also considering orders placed through the Yandex.Eda app. Major online grocery market players X5 Retail Group is the major food retailer in Russia by market share, total revenue, and online sales value. However, Sbermarket was the online retailer with a major presence countrywide, covering 82 regions as of June 2021. Uitkonos, on the other hand, provided the largest product variety to its e-grocery shoppers. Perekrestok – one of the brands of X5 Retail Group – listed second, offering 44 thousand food products on its online platform. Global grocery market overview On a global spectrum, similarly to Russia, offline grocery sales still yield most of the market revenue. E-commerce sales, nonetheless, are estimated to experience significant growth of nearly 100 percent from 2021 to 2026 worldwide. The Russian grocery market is the third-largest in Europe, ranking behind Germany and France. In 2024, its market value is set to reach about 280 billion U.S. dollars.
