Evolutionary Engineering of E. coli MG1655 for Tolerance Against Isoprenol

Here we applied adaptive laboratory evolution successfully to evolve E. coli towards high tolerance against isoprenol, increasing growth at the half-maximal inhibitory concentration by 47%. RNA-sequencing showed that the deletion identified upstream of yghB correlated with a strong overexpression of the gene. RNA-Sequencing of 3 different E. coli MG1655 strains (Culture A, Culture B, Culture C) adapted to Isoprenol and wild-type strain in three biological replicates grown with Isoprenol stress.
