‘Used’ represents the weight (in milligrams) of the amount of starting material used in the pre-treatment chemistry. Yield is the yield of sample in milligrams after pre-treatment. %C is the amount of carbon obtained from the combustion of the treated organic material. For bone we would expect ∼40% by weight to comprise carbon. δ13C values are reported in ‰ with reference to VPDB [22], δ15N values with respect to AIR. CN represents the atomic ratio of carbon to nitrogen; values between 2.9 and 3.5 would be usual.*R_Combine dates.
