Contagious equine metritis (CEM) causes temporary infertility and disrupts breeding in horses, and thus the sporadic CEM outbreaks is the international concerns in the thoroughbred horse racing and breeding industry. Here, we describe a high-throughput genomics approach that provides a high-resolution view of the epidemiology of T. equigenitalis. 77 Japanese T. equigenitalis strain isolated from the first world outbreak in 1980 until 2000, as well as 8 strain from UK, USA, Australia and Switzerland were compared.
