Complete genome sequence of Desulfovibrio legallii GTC18478 isolated from a clinical specimen in Japan

Desulfovibrio species are non-spore-forming, non-fermentative, sulfate-reducing, anaerobic Gram-negative bacilli. The majority of these organisms are motile, characterised by the presence of polar flagella, and typically exhibit a curved or spiral morphology. The present study details a complete genome sequence of Desulfovibrio legallii, isolated from a human clinical specimen in Japan. The strain was initially identified using a MALDI-Biotyper, following the manufacturer's instructions (Bruker Japan). The identity of the strain was confirmed by determining the sequence of the 16S rRNA gene. The complete genome sequence of this strain has been determined. The sequencing was performed through a combination of long-read sequencing by nanopore (Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Tokyo, Japan) and short-read sequencing by NovaSeq6000 (Illumina, San Diego, CA, USA).
