A linkage map is incredibly vital in exploring the genetic basis for phenotypic divergence by QTL analysis and inferring evolutionary history by comparative genomics in non-model organisms. However, genetic mapping is still a blank field in bamboos as well as the QTL analysis on their key innovated traits due to the extremely long life cycle. The goal of this project is to build the first genetic map of bamboo species. We constructed the first high-density genetic linkage map of Dendrocalamus latiflorus comprising 3627 RAD-tag markers distributed on 36 linkage groups and covering 3113cM using 190 selfing progenies. Collinearity based on the linkage map was found to be extensively conserved between bamboo and other grass species.
