StreetPro Traffic USA

StreetPro Traffic provides unique insight on typical traffic density for the complete road network, for every hour and day of the week. This includes the average amount of probe data received from our partner and third-party devices. As such, typical traffic density represents a sampled number of vehicles and not the total population of people driving on the road. StreetPro Traffic utilizes Floating Car Data (FCD) and GPS measurements coming from millions of connected sources to provide indicative traffic density by time of day and day of week.

FCD is an innovative method of collecting data from navigation devices in vehicles. Example of probe devices include:
- smart phones
- dedicated navigation devices
- fleet management solutions

FCD contains information about localization, speed, time and direction of vehicle travel. Therefore, FCD primarily provides traffic information wherever there are vehicles traveling, not in non-vehicle areas. The data contains the aggregated results of all journeys driven with our partner automotive and GPS devices. The traveled road segments of each journey are identified on the road network, following the StreetPro Navigation Premium map. Then, an aggregation is completed over the different time group(s). This aggregation gives information, such as the traffic counts for each segment, the direction traveled and the hour and day. The data is the average of all data compiled in each specific time group and not the sum of the data.

This collection of historical traffic information provides valuable insight into the traffic situation on the road network throughout the day. StreetPro Traffic data consists of data aggregated over past 6 months preceding the release date.

The results represent all road classes open for traffic. However, traffic counts with hour resolution are only provided when probe data volumes are sufficient. Otherwise, the only traffic counts provided are per week or weekdays. In order to provide a continuous road network, road elements without probe data have also been provided within the product.
