To better understand the interactions between climate, vegetation, and fire, we analyzed BC, total organic carbon, and stable carbon isotopic composition (δ¹³C) in a sediment core retrieved from the northern SCS, covering the last 33 ka. Sediment core SCS GC-1 was retrieved using a gravity corer during the R/V Songhang research expedition in the SCS conducted by Shanghai Ocean University in October 2022. Samples were firstly analyzed for TOC content and δ¹³CTOC, and the BC content was assessed using two established methodologies: chemical thermal oxidation (CTO-375) method and benzene polycarboxylic acids (BPCAs) method.
为更好地理解气候、植被与火灾之间的相互作用,我们对取自南海北部、覆盖距今33千年以来的沉积物岩芯中的黑碳(black carbon, BC)、总有机碳(total organic carbon, TOC)以及稳定碳同位素组成(δ¹³C)开展了分析。本次研究所用的沉积物岩芯SCS GC-1,由上海海洋大学于2022年10月在南海执行的“松航”号(R/V Songhang)科考航次中,通过重力取样器(gravity corer)获取。研究首先对样品的总有机碳含量与总有机碳稳定碳同位素组成(δ¹³C_TOC)进行测试;黑碳含量则采用两种成熟方法进行测定:化学热氧化法(chemical thermal oxidation, CTO-375)与苯多羧酸法(benzene polycarboxylic acids, BPCAs)。
