Viral Consciousness: A Paradigm Shift in Defining Life through Intentionality, Purposeful Behavior, and Integrated Information in Viral Dynamics

This manuscript proposes a revolutionary conceptual framework that redefines life not through structural criteria such as self-replication and metabolism, but via functional hallmarks of consciousness, intentionality, and goal-driven behavior. Drawing on viral tropism, host cell targeting, and molecular decision-making processes, we argue that viruses exhibit rudimentary forms of consciousness akin to Integrated Information Theory (IIT) principles.
