VPRS 11521 Contract Register

Section 455, Part XVI of the Local Government Act 1915 allowed municipal councils to enter into contracts for the purposes of executing works directed or authorised by the Act. The same piece of legislation stipulated the need for such contracts to be in writing. This series comprises volumes called Contract Registers. They were created to document contract particulars. Some volumes within the series predate the legislation.Contract files were registered in Contract Registers. The Contract Registers provide a brief summary of contracts entered into by the Council for the provision of goods and services. The contract registration number may be used to identify the relevant file in VPRS 11523 Contract Files. (Only selected files have been retained however.)(Contract Registers are designated for permanent retention in PROS 84/25 Local Government Records General Disposal Schedule (Class 5.4.0).
