In this study, we sequenced and de novo assembled its genome. A total of six different insert-size libraries were sequenced and generated 662 Gb of clean data in total. The assembled wild yak genome is 2.83 Gb in length, with an N50 contig size of 63.2 kb and a scaffold size of 16.3 Mb. BUSCO assessment indicated that 93.8% of the highly conserved mammal genes were completely present in the genome assembly. Annotation of the wild yak genome assembly identified 1.41 Gb (49.65%) of repetitive sequences and a total of 22,910 protein-coding genes, among these genes, 20,660 (90.18%) are annotated with functional terms.

本研究对其基因组进行了测序并完成从头组装(de novo assembly)。共构建6种不同插入片段长度的文库并开展测序,最终累计获得662 Gb的清洁数据(clean data)。组装完成的野牦牛基因组总长为2.83 Gb,其重叠群(Contig)N50长度为63.2 kb,支架序列(Scaffold)N50长度为16.3 Mb。经BUSCO(Benchmarking Universal Single-Copy Orthologs)评估,本次基因组组装完整覆盖了93.8%的哺乳动物高度保守基因。对该野牦牛基因组组装结果进行注释后,共鉴定出1.41 Gb(占比49.65%)的重复序列,以及总计22,910个蛋白编码基因;其中20,660个基因(占比90.18%)获得了功能注释。
