The sequences are from a modularized freshwater mesocosm experiments in 5 lakes along a latitudinal gradient in Sweden (Stortjärn, Erken, Erssjön, Feresjön and Bolmen) which vary in local environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, elevation, nutrients and water colour), including oligotrophic clearwater, mesotrophic and humic lake types. The mesocosm infrastructure is operated by SITES AquaNET, which is part of the Swedish Infrastructure for Ecosystem Sciences (SITES)
