This dataset contains qualitative data related to the Women, Leadership and Climate Change National Forum convened in Melbourne in November 2009 by the Gender Leadership and Social Sustainability (GLASS) research unit at Monash University. It is an output of a project funded by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). Using a method articulated in Research for social workers: an introduction to methods (Alston, 2003), during August and September 2009, Margaret Alston and Kerri Whittenbury conducted 3 focus groups where the 30 participants were women from irrigation areas and small communities in the Murray-Darling Basin system area talking about the social impacts of declining water. Transcripts of the recordings were analysed and informed the workshop agenda for the national forum which was attended by over 100 women from all parts of Australia. The dataset also includes 6 PowerPoint presentations from guest speakers at the Forum. The data has also informed 10 keynote addresses and was used by Margaret Alston in her virtual seminar, "Gender and Climate Change: Crisis in Australia's Foodbowl–The Murray-Darling Basin" during a Conference at Pennsylvania State University, Integrating Development and Climate Change Ethics.
