Protomyces sp. C29 Genome sequencing and assembly

Protomyces sp. SC29 (OTU1) is being sequenced with the aim of using genomic data to establish that it is a novel species adapted to live in the phyllosphere of Arabidopsis thaliana and possibly other host plants. Sequence data will also be used for the study of virulence mechanisms, evolution, and comparative genomics in the order Taphrinales. P. sp. SC29 is being developed as a model to study the genetics of plant yeast interactions and the modulation of Arabidopsis immunity by phyllosphere resident yeasts.
