资源简介:
This dataset consists of the data presented in the publication "First impressions: Integrating faces and bodies in personality trait perception".In Experiment 1, we evaluated the relative contributions of faces and bodies to the whole person perception.Procedure: In the main experiment, the 28 models were divided randomly into three sets. We used a full cross design such that each set of models appeared once in each of the three image types (face, body, and whole-person). This design resulted in six unique conditions, each comprising 28 models. Each participant was assigned to one condition randomly. Within each condition, the presentation order of models was random. In each rating trial (see Fig. 1), participants saw an image along with a list of 17 personality traits. The task was to judge the level at which the traits apply to the image shown, based on a five-point Likert scale. The responses ranged from “does not apply at all” to “applies extremely well.” There was no default selection. When all ratings were entered for the displayed model, the next model appeared. The procedure was repeated until all models were rated. The experiment was self-paced.In Experiment 2, we investigated whether and how the whole person context impacts the trait perception of faces (Experiment 2a) and bodies (Experiment 2b).Procedure: The experiment employed a block design to ensure that the facial ratings were not biased by seeing the body. Specifically, the experiment included a face block followed by a whole-person block. In the face block, participants rated all faces for all traits based on a 9-point Likert scale, ranging from 1 (“does not apply at all”) to 9 (“applies extremely well”). There was no default selection. Participants were required to finish all ratings for each face before the next face appeared. The experiment was self-paced. After all facial images were rated, participants rated the faces again in the whole-person images, using the 9-point Likert scale. Within the face block and the whole-person block, the identities appeared in random order. Similar to Experiment 2a, Experiment 2b included a body block followed by a whole-person block. All other aspects of the procedure were identical to those used in Experiment 2a.
