Exopolysaccharide (EPS) is complex sugar made by many microbes in the Antarctic marine environment. This project seeks to understand the ecological role of microbial EPS in the Southern Ocean, where it is known to strongly influence primary production. We will investigate the chemical composition and structure of EPS obtained from Antarctic microbes, which will improve our knowledge of its ecological significance and biotechnological potential.Dataset includes the following:1) Information on Exopolysaccharide-producing bacterial isolates, isolation sites, media used and growth conditions.2) 16S rRNA gene sequence and fatty acid data of isolates for strain identification.3) Exopolysaccharide chemistry data including EPS carbohydrate composition, organic acid composition, sulfate content, molecular weight.4) Physiology of exopolysaccharide synthesis. Effects of temperature and other factors on EPS yield and glucose conversion efficiency.5) Iron binding properties.The download file includes:11 filesFile 1. Bacterial isolate 16S rRNA gene sequences obtained from Southern Ocean seawater or ice samples. The sequences are all deposited on the GenBank nucleotide (NCBI) database. Sequences are in FASTA format.File 2. Seawater and sea-ice sample information including sites samples, sample type.File 3. Data for exopolysaccharide (EPS)-producing bacteria isolated and subsequently selected for further studied. Information indicates special treatments used to obtain strains including plankton towing, filtration method, and enrichment. Identification to species level was determined by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis.File 4. EPS-producing bacterial isolate fatty acid content determined using GC/MS procedures.File 5. Basic chemical data for EPS from Antarctic isolates including protein, sulfate, and sugar type relative content (determined by chemical procedures), molecular weight in kilodaltons and polydispersity (determined by gel-based molecular seiving).File 6 Monosaccharide unit composition determined by GC/MS of EPS from Antarctic isolates.File 7. 胞外多糖(Exopolysaccharide, EPS)是南极海洋环境中众多微生物所产生的复杂糖类物质。本项目旨在探究微生物胞外多糖在南大洋中的生态作用——已知其对海洋初级生产具有显著影响。我们将对源自南极微生物的胞外多糖的化学组成与结构展开研究,以期深化对其生态价值与生物技术应用潜力的认知。 本数据集包含以下内容: 1) 产胞外多糖细菌分离株的相关信息、分离位点、所用培养基及培养条件。 2) 用于菌株鉴定的16S rRNA基因(16S rRNA gene)序列数据与脂肪酸组分数据。 3) 胞外多糖化学数据,涵盖EPS的糖类组成、有机酸组成、硫酸盐含量及分子量。 4) 胞外多糖合成的生理特性:温度及其他因素对EPS产量与葡萄糖转化效率的影响。 5) 铁结合特性。 下载文件包含以下11个文件: 文件1:从南大洋海水或海冰样品中分离得到的细菌分离株16S rRNA基因序列,所有序列均已提交至GenBank核苷酸(NCBI)数据库,序列格式为FASTA。 文件2:海水与海冰样品的相关信息,包括采样位点、样品类型。 文件3:已分离并入选后续研究的产胞外多糖细菌相关数据,其中包含为获取菌株所采用的特殊处理手段,如浮游生物拖网、过滤方法及富集培养;菌株的物种水平鉴定通过16S rRNA基因序列分析完成。 文件4:通过GC/MS(气相色谱-质谱联用)方法测定的产胞外多糖细菌分离株的脂肪酸组分数据。 文件5:南极分离株所产胞外多糖的基础化学数据,包括蛋白质、硫酸盐及糖类组分的相对含量(通过化学方法测定)、以千道尔顿为单位的分子量及多分散性(通过凝胶分子筛分法测定)。 文件6:通过GC/MS(气相色谱-质谱联用)方法测定的南极分离株所产胞外多糖的单糖单元组成数据。 文件7:温度对产胞外多糖细菌Pseudoalteromonas sp. CAM025的培养粘度与生长的影响。 文件8:温度对产胞外多糖细菌Pseudoalteromonas sp. CAM025的胞外多糖与细胞产量、胞外多糖合成效率(以葡萄糖消耗量表征)的影响。 文件9:铜、镉金属离子在产胞外多糖细菌Pseudoalteromonas sp.
