This dataset includes the results of elemental analysis of marginal soil and spent coffee grounds utilized in the pot scale experiment with Miscanthus giganteus. Furthermore, soil samples were taken following a 42-day medium-term screening of Miscanthus plants in marginal soil with different ratios of soil amendments (for biochar made from spent coffee grounds: 2.5%, 10%, and 30% v/v, and for spent coffee grounds: 10%, 20%, and 50%). The multi-elemental composition was determined using non-destructive analytical method: X-ray fluorescence (XRF, Titan S1, Bruker, USA).
