WGS of human originated probiotic bacterial strains

Probiotics are live microorganisms known to confer health benefits in various diseases including metabolic disorders cancer and neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimers disease. In this study we identified four human origin probiotic strains based on their anti aging effects in Caenorhabditis elegans demonstrating lifespan extension both as live cultures and when used to ferment milk. A combined formulation of these strains exhibited enhanced protective effects against 5 fluorouracil induced intestinal mucositis in mice, outperforming the use of live strains alone. The multi-strain fermented probiotic significantly mitigated chemotherapy-associated gut microbiota dysbiosis intestinal inflammation mucosal atrophy, and cognitive dysfunction. These results highlight the potential of this novel multi-strain probiotic formulation to protect against gastrointestinal and neurological side effects associated with cancer treatment, addressing a critical need in the care of cancer survivors.
