Transformation of straw-derived carbon (C) in soil are primarily mediated by microbial communities and may be constrained by nitrogen (N) availability. Phototrophic biofilms (PBs), particularly those containing diazotrophic taxa, substantially alter soil microbial community structure, and C-N metabolism.
