Assessment of UNESCO eDNA data on fishes from three World Heritage Marine Sites in the Tropical Eastern Pacific (TEP)

Assessment of UNESCO eDNA data on fishes from three World Heritage Marine Sites in the Tropical Eastern Pacific (TEP). The assessment focuses on Reef-Associated elasmobranchs and bony fish species, a major component of each island fauna for which expansive, modern taxonomic and biogeographical information is available. Faunal lists based on UNESCO eDNA studies are compared to comprehensive, curated local checklists at Cocos, the Revillagigedos and Coiba islands. There are no UNESCO eDNA data available for the Galapagos.The UNESCO eDNA data were downloaded from the Ocean Biodiversity Information System (OBIS) in February 2025.
