Anastasis in yeast

Cells may recovered after have been exposed to lethal conditions and presenting signs of being dead (e.g., permeable to propidium iodine), upon removal of the toxin. Such process is referred to as anastasis and has been studied in mammalian systems under unstable DNA conditions (apoptosis, cancer). In this study we show that the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisea recovers from the lethal action of an antimicrobial peptide, under low genomic mutagenesis. The 6 genome reads reported in this study corresponds with 2 wild-type strains, 2 strains obtained after anastasis or hormesis conditions.
