Biodiversity recovery after Olson's extinction event

The existence of Olson's extinction, 270-275 million years ago, and the impact it had on mammalian ancestors are currently among the most hotly debated topics in palaeontology. We here propose to describe, based on synchrotron scanning, the newest, most complete, and best dated fossil fauna documenting the biodiversity recovery after this extinction. This project has the potential to highlight the evolutionary and ecological dynamics of terrestrial ecosystems right after Olson’s extinction and document how it affected mammalian ancestors in an unprecedented way.
