The goal is to assess the impacts plastics in the wastewater system have on the oxidation pond microbiota. Plastic tokens were placed in the final oxidation ponds of a wastewater treatment to form biofilms. Plastics were sampled at 2, 6, 26 and 52 weeks where the microbial component of the biofilms were sequenced using Illumina sequencing.
