16S rDNA amplicon sequences of metagenomes extracted from Pasig River, Metro Manila, Philippines,

Urban rivers are sinks of wastewater from residential and commercial sources that carry different types of pollutants downstream, therefore making them vulnerable ecosystems. The case of Pasig River is of interest as the surrounding areas range from being urbanized to highly-urbanized. An assessment of Pasig River bacterial communities and ARG profiles is a much-needed initiative. Phenotypic and genotypic information of bacterial communities in freshwater bodies can inform the understanding of processes such as bacterial diversification and the acquisition of antimicrobial resistance. The general aim of this project is to profile the bacterial communities of the Pasig River.
