Roads and Maritime Services regularly commissioned surveyors to survey the resumption of existing roads or future road sites prior to undertaking road works across the state as part of its Survey Property Function. The majority of the Licensed and Registered Surveyors commissioned for this activity were full-time employed by DMR as part of the Survey Property division; however, DMR did routinely contract Licensed and Registered Surveyors to undertake select pieces of work.Control Marks are the primary/base control used for preliminary survey measurements; it may consist of any known point capable of establishing accurate control of distance and direction.Department of Main Roads Control Mark sketch plans hold the following information; parish; municipality or shire; road number; type of mark; reason the mark was placed; co-ordinate values of mark; and level of mark. Department of Main Roads had its own control network similar to SCIMS, however at some stage it was decided that a lot of the marks would be stored in SCIMS. Whilst the majority of the marks are stored in SCIMS, some are not. Some of the marks form part of the State Control Network, and they are the manual copies (printed versions/photocopies) of what is stored digitally.The format of the records are A4 and foolscap. Individual records have been hole punched. A small section of the records have been produced on photographic film. Records were removed from ring bound folders and placed in separate archival folders to maintain original arrangement created by department. Records are not any sequential order.

道路与海事服务局（Roads and Maritime Services）作为其勘测与地产管理职能的一部分，在全州范围内开展道路工程前，会定期委托测量师对现有道路的征用或未来道路场址进行勘测。本次任务委托的绝大多数持照注册测量师均为主道路局（Department of Main Roads，DMR）勘测物业部门的全职雇员，但主道路局也会常规委托持照注册测量师承接部分专项工作。控制标志（Control Marks）是用于初步勘测测量的核心/基础控制基准，它们可由任意能够建立精准距离与方向控制的已知测点构成。主道路局的控制标志草图档案包含以下信息：教区、市政区或郡、道路编号、标志类型、设置标志的原因、标志的坐标值以及标志高程。主道路局拥有一套与SCIMS类似的自有控制网，但在某一阶段，该局决定将大量控制标志的相关数据存储至SCIMS中。尽管绝大多数控制标志的相关数据已存储至SCIMS，但仍有部分未纳入该系统。部分控制标志属于国家控制网的组成部分，其存档为数字存储内容的纸质副本（打印版/影印版）。档案的载体格式涵盖A4纸与福斯卡纸（foolscap），每份档案均已打有装订孔。少量档案以摄影胶片为载体。为保留该部门最初制定的档案编排规则，工作人员已将原环形装订活页夹中的档案取出，分装至独立的档案专用文件夹内。档案未按任何序列进行排序。
